Son Heung-min, born on 8 July 1992 in the quiet city of Chuncheon, South Korea, was no ordinary child. Under the demanding eye of his father, Son Woong-jung, a former professional footballer turned coach, he learned from an early age that talent alone was never enough — it took hard work, discipline, and a burning passion for the game.
At sixteen, Son left his homeland for Germany — a leap into the unknown. He joined the Hamburger SV academy through a development programme run by the Korean Football Federation. Far from home, he forged his character and refined his game.

Son made his professional debut in 2010 with Hamburg. Over three seasons, he scored 20 goals in 73 appearances, revealing blistering pace and a rare ability to score in the most important moments.
In 2013, Son joins Bayer Leverkusen for €10 million — a club record at the time. Over two seasons, he shone in the Champions League and the Bundesliga, scoring 21 goals in 62 appearances. His style was unmistakable: explosive, two-footed, and utterly unpredictable.
